Bath Time
Luka hated sponge-baths, but he loves taking a bath now. Especially when he gets to flop his arms and legs in the warm water.

After he’s all done – we wrap him in a Pooh bathrope.

2 Month Dr Appointment
Luka had his 2 months Dr appointment yesterday. As we suspected due to some of his cloths getting smaller – he grew!
He’s now 13 pounds (5896 g) heavy and 24 inches (61 cm) tall.
He also got a bunch of shots and had to be pocked again for blood since the sample they took last time didn’t get to the lab in time due to the snow storm.
Luka did pretty well with all of that and didn’t even scream as much as I would have. And for the rest of the day, he pretty much just slept.
Which brings us to other exciting news – Luka has been sleeping in his crib for the last 3 nights and has been doing very well. We put him down at about 10 pm and he sleeps till 3:30 am. At that point he gets food and a fresh diaper and then he sleeps till at least 6:30 am (which will be the time I will have to get up when I go back to work anyway). So – yeah!
Here is a picture of his poor legs after he got all of the shots:

Good Times with Oma
Luka had a great time with his Oma and wants to say “Thank You” for spending time and taking care of him.

Merry Christmas! Frohe Weihnachten!
Hope you all had a good Christmas. We sure did!
Christmas Eve (Heilig Abend) we spent at Angie & John’s house with Grammy, Papa, John and the Hunt family. We acted out the nativity sceen – with Luka as the baby Jesus – and playing Jingle Bells with Grammys bells.
Christmas Day we spent at Grammy’s house. We had brunch, exchanged gifts, played games and had dinner with the entire family.
Here are a few pics from Grammy’s house – more to come in the next few days.
Luka got a lot of gifts:

Than Luka took a nap:

And here is Luka with his cousin Jake:

Getting ready for Christmas
We started to decorate our home for Christmas and also attended Sue & Tracy’s Holiday Hoopla (their Christmas party).
Luka’s Christmas outfit was a big hit!

2 Week Check-up
Today was Luka’s 2 week check-up.
He gained a bit of weight – which is good – and is now at 10.1 lbs (or 4,58 kg). Part of the 2 week check-up is a blood test, which means he had to be pocked again (his poor heel!).
The doctor said he is fine and everything looks good – yeah!

Going to Grammy’s house
Yesterday, we went to Grammy’s house for dinner. Cousin Jake was there as well. Can’t wait to get older so I can play with him!

Yahoo! Gifts
Luka got a gift basket from Yahoo! today. Yeah!

Santa Claus Day (Sankt Nikolaus)

December 6th is Sankt Nikolaus or Santa Claus day in Germany. Kids put there boots in front of the door the night of December 5th and Sankt Nikolaus comes bye and drops something in their boots.
If you’ve been good you will receive chocolates, oranges, nutes and little toys. If you’ve been bad you get a wipe or rode to remind you to be good.
Since Luka is half German, he also put his tiny little boots in front of his door. Although Hillsboro is a far way from Germany, Sankt Nikolaus did come bye to drop off some goodies. Now, it’s hard to find something a 1 week old baby wants other than a fresh diaper or a bottle of food, but Sankt Nikolaus was able to find something: little socks (all the way from Germany) and a little chocolate santa (which mommy eat so baby can “taste” it in the milk).
Now, we aren’t quite sure yet which German and which American traditions to keep for Luka, since keeping both might confuse the poor kid, but we’ll figure it out over the next year or so.

Luka’s Day – After First Week
It’s been a little over a week now that we brought our little Luka home (well, maybe not little considering his birth weight).
He’s adapted quiet nicely and basically sleeps, eats and poops most of the day. However, he has his “awake” moments where he looks around and checks out his surroundings.
You might be interested to see what his actual feeding and diaper stats are. So here you go. Let’s take yesterday, December 4th, for example:
- 24.4 oz in 12 different feeding sessions (which is 0.72 Liter)
- 14 diapers (his new personal record – usually he’s around 12)
Thankfully, mom and dad switch of so they don’t have to be up 24 hours to attend his every need. And he does sleep about 2 hours in between feedings.
Noise doesn’t really bother him. Mom and dad can be yelling at the TV because the Portland Blazers (basketball team up here) are making it a one-point game yet again, and Luka will just sleep through it without any problems. No worries – we will make him a sports fan before you know it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
We have much to be thankful for including but not limited to family, friends, cheese in a can, etc…
But this year we are most thankful for our little Luka being born in great health with all ten finger and toes.

Luka Louis Perrin is born!
Today at 12:17 am, November the 26th of 2008 Nadine and I welcomed our first child Luka Louis Perrin to the world.
Luka weighed in at 9 pounds and 10 ounces. (4366 Grams for the my German peeps!)
He is 21 and 1/2 inches tall. Head circumference: 14 inches. Chest: 14 inches.
